Ritenour High School will hold their first “Soccer Saturday for Childhood Cancer Research” on Sept. 26 to raise awareness and funds for CJ’s Journey, a non-profit foundation formed in 2009 after the passing of CJ Aubuchon, a former Ritenour soccer player who courageously battled osteosarcoma in his teens.

The event will be held at the Ritenour North Athletic Soccer Complex, located at St. Charles Rock Road and Marshall Avenue.

Money raised at the event for CJ’s Journey will provide funding for Dr. Brian Van Tine and his ground- breaking research in childhood cancer at Washington University. To commemorate Ritenour’s first Soccer Saturday for Childhood Cancer, special T-shirts are available to pre-order. All funds will benefit CJ’s Journey. T-shirts are $12 for adult sizes S-M-L-XL and $14 for 2XL, 3XL or larger.  All orders are due by Monday, Sept. 14 by emailing Coach Mike Murray at [email protected] with the size you want.

“I am excited that our soccer players will have the opportunity to play to win both on the field against Lutheran North and off the field as they raise awareness about CJ’s Journey,” Murray said.

Soccer Saturday starts with a double header of high school soccer as the varsity and junior varsity Huskies take on Lutheran North at 11 a.m. and 1 p.m., respectively.  Immediately before the varsity game, fans and players will honor C.J. Aubuchon. Alumni soccer games will follow after the JV game.
