Last week was not an average week; there was love and joy in the air. Ritenour students prepared to celebrate the holiday with help from Family, Career, Community Leaders of America (FCCLA), who sold candy grams and flowers in the cafeteria for students to buy for their significant other as a present.

“Sales have been so successful that we had to purchase a lot more flowers than last year sales,” sophomore Travis Keith said.

The change in the schedule to have school in session last week on Friday interfered with students. The weather made the week cold and gave students a little trouble participating in Valentine’s Day during school.

“The weather played a big part in my Valentine’s Day week, I missed the bus and couldn’t feel my face,” junior Joshua Broadway said.

With the weather playing a big part of the week, FCCLA organized a time to sell their goods.

“As of now we don’t have plans to expand, but we are planning to put Hersheys kisses for each flower purchase,” Keith said

Many students also participated by giving many of their partner’s gifts. Valentine’s Day spread love throughout the cold week and gave everyone a chance to spend one amazing day to celebrate love and romance.

“I believe that people should not just rely on Valentine’s Day to love your partner, you should be able to celebrate Valentine’s Day everyday of the year,” Broadway said

It is tradition to celebrate Valentine’s Day, and Ritenour supported it greatly and have been supporting it for some time now.

“We have been selling candy grams and flowers for about five or six now,” Keith said.

Valentine’s Day gives Ritenour students and staff an opportunity to be with the ones they love the most and gives them a full day to celebrate, love, and cherish them.
