Students in Dean Cochran’s Spanish class work on book work. The second semester is an ideal time for students to start over and achieve the success they desire.

All Ritenour High School juniors will take the ACT college entrance exam at no charge here at school on Tuesday, April 28, 2015. This test is accepted by all two- and four-year colleges and universities in the United States.

The ACT is a multiple-choice test, based on what students are currently learning in school. Their scores will help them prepare for their future after high school graduation. The standardized assessment also provides valuable feedback to school leaders and teachers regarding our students’ college readiness and academic achievement.

RHS juniors, like high school juniors throughout Missouri, will take all five timed sections of the ACT exam: English (45 minutes), mathematics (60 minutes), reading (35 minutes), science (35 minutes) and writing (60 minutes).

The exam will start promptly at 8:15 a.m. at RHS. Students are strongly encouraged to arrive at school by 7:45 a.m. if they plan to eat breakfast in the cafeteria.  Food and drinks are not allowed in the testing room. Students should be seated and ready for testing at least 10 minutes before the test begins.

CELL PHONES are strictly prohibited in testing rooms. If a student is found with a cell phone during testing or during the morning break, his/her test will be disqualified. Students are urged to leave their cell phones at home that day or lock them in their locker until dismissal. Certain graphing calculators are permitted for the math portion of the test. Students cannot use their calculator on their cell phone. For more information about the approved types of graphing calculators for the exam, go to http://www.actstudent.org/faq/calculator.html

All juniors will receive a free, healthy morning snack in the morning during a testing break. Students can bring a lunch or purchase it in the cafeteria prior to the 1:15 p.m. dismissal of all students.
