Leadership Blood Drive

Every year, Ritenour High School hosts three blood drives, with the host being Renaissance, National Honor Society, and Leadership.

This year on February 16 Ritenour’s blood drive was sponsored by Leadership, an organization within the school to assist in making a change.

A tremendous amount of the school;s population participated in this event, giving others faith and hope for a better life, and a second chance.  Even people who do not attend the high school were able to come in the building and give their generous donation of blood.

“It feels good helping citizens within the community who can’t help themselves, someone who needs my blood. Knowing I can supply their needs and wants helps me build my character,” senior Darryl Burkes said.

Ritenour does this to save as many lives as possible; each pint can save three lives each. Other reasons students gave for donating were to service the community, and on another note provide scholarships for students throughout the school.

“This is my favorite community service activity. Giving back in life is an important factor,” senior Alyssa Johnson said.
