IBS Conference in NY

Our KRHS Media students have been hard at work during the Spring 2017 semester. In February, our students held the Ritenour Annual Talent Show for an audience of 200+. You could find us at the Eight Grade Activities fair where we invited incoming freshman to tour our facilities and take classes in the 2017-2018 school year.

The first weeks in March were packed with lots of activity for our squad. Six students from the KRHS Media program traveled to the Intercollegiate Broadcast Conference in New York, NY. Students were honored during the trophy competition and named Best TV News Station and Radio Station in the nation. Meanwhile, in Columbia, MO, eight students were guests of the True?false Festival held the University of Missouri – Columbia campus. The students took tours of the Mizzou campus, were active participants in a parade, and took classes in audio, video, and art. The weekend long documentary film festival allowed for students to view and meet filmmakers and their sugjects.

Guest speaker, professional journalist Jimmie Briggs, a former contributor to Vibe, Life, and Rolling Stones magazine, spoke with students from multiple programs, about his journey from St. Louis to the world of news writing. Students were actively moved by Briggs stories of travel to international countries to document the effects of war and politics on children all over the world.
