There have been a lot of great football players in the history of the game, but Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Pat Mahomes is the greatest to have ever played the game.
Mahomes was the youngest player to ever win both a MVP and a Super Bowl title. He was the first player to win the championship MVP award 3 times in the first seven seasons out of all 4 major sports (NFL, NBA, MLB, and NHL).
I really think that Mahomes has a good strength of being the most important player, and is a lot better than Tom Brady. He has more playoff wins and AFC titles in his first six seasons as an NFL starter. He still holds the regular season record with the total yards of 5,614 and also holds the record for the most passing yards per game in NFL history at 296.1.
When Mahomes is discussed with the likes of Michael Jordan, Kobe Bryant, Lebron James, and all the other great athletes, there is just one thing they have that others don’t. I really see that he has an extra gear, and he showed it off at the 2024 Super Bowl. The switch turned on and was never turned off. It’s almost like his energy was unlimited when the game was on the line and he didn’t stop.
At the age of 27, Mahomes has two league MVPs, over 24,000 passing yards, and 192 Touchdowns. The Chiefs have gone into five AFC championship games with Mahomes at quarterback and he has won three in those five games. This means he made an appearance in three Super Bowl games and he won two out of the three, winning Super Bowl MVP twice in the row. He has another 5-10 years of dominance that he can match with Tom Brady.
Mahomes said in a TIME interview, “I’ve had at least one of the top three starts of a career, I’ll put it that way.”
I do believe that Patrick Mahomes is the greatest quarterback that anyone has ever seen, but It can be hard to believe that it would be true. He’s only been in the league for seven years. Tom Brady has an advantage with seven Super Bowl titles. Additionally, Joe Montana has gotten four and Mahomes only has three.
Mahomes has still got a long way to go before making history, but obviously, football is a team sport. Mahomes isn’t the only player to contribute to the Chiefs’ Bowl wins. There can be a reason to think that Mahomes and the Chiefs’ won’t keep up the pace. On the other hand, Mahomes was able to be in the AFC title game every single year of his career. His winning career has been unbelievable, especially when he has made comeback victories through some games.
Patrick Mahomes is the greatest football player, and we are lucky to experience his legacy as one of the best in NFL history. He landed in an advantageous situation, being drafted by the Kansas City Chiefs, but he does negative things at a lower rate than just every other quarterback in the NFL and it unlocks everyone else’s play. It’s all to say that I think that Mahomes is already the greatest NFL player to ever play a game. He owns the league marks for touchdown with 219 passes and 28,424 passing yards through 100 career regular-season games in NFL history despite the fact that he only played 96 games in his career.
I really think Mahomes will continue to make an impact during his career, and I’m glad I get to watch it.
