Homecoming under the big top
Ritenour High School host their annual homecoming on October 11

On Saturday, Oct. 11 Ritenour hosted the annual homecoming parade, game and dance, where students of all grade levels could attend.
Every year homecoming has a theme; the theme usually reflects the schools theme for the year. This year’s theme was carnival. Pictures and crafts were posted in the lobby and foyer to bring the theme to life. With a new theme and a new DJ that was chosen to help with music, Ritenour was able to bring together another dance event.
“The music was real good, I liked the whole set up they had it was different, but in a good way,” senior Thomas Bufe said.
Students were also given the option to bring friends or acquaintances to the dance for them to participate. Also, a few new settings were adjusted in the gymnasium so students could have a more enjoyable time.
“The dance floor was really fun. Me and my friends had a good time, but the spotlight they had going across everybody was weird,” senior Ciara Robinson said.
With the new changes that came there were ones that still stayed the same. Students were given a strict description of what to and what not to wear for homecoming. Men were not allowed to sag, wear jeans, t-shirts or hoodies, but were allowed to wear suits, sweaters, button down shirts, and khakis. Woman were not allowed to wear dresses with back cut, that showed too much skin, or that had too low neck line, but they were allowed to wear dresses with a appropriate length and not showing to much cleavage.
“I like what they did with the dress code, everybody looked so good and well dressed at the dance which made it a lot more enjoyable,” senior Jazmine Stephens said.
The Ritenour homecoming dance set a mark for the semester and the many dances that will come after it. Homecoming also gave students a great way to celebrate the new school year.
