On  Tuesday February 2,  National Honors Society (NHS) had their induction for newcomers .

There was an application process in order to become a member of NHS, which included a teacher recommendation. There is also a list of requirements which new members had to meet, such as a maintaining a certain GPA level, as well as doing community service and being involved in multiple activities.

“It’s pretty hard for a sophomore to get accepted into NHS, and to know that I got accepted makes me feel pretty good,” sophomore Reese Sherman said.

NHS is a group that helps the community. NHS has fundraisers to help raise money for charity.  They help try to make the community a better place. They organize different events as a group to help make Ritenour and the community a better place to be in.

“Last year we did a fundraiser that raised pennies and we gave it to a charity.  We also do community service projects, and as a member you have to get 16 hours of community service to stay in the program,” junior Samantha Schaefer said.
