Quarantine Journal – Senior Elena Martin

Elena Martin, Staff Reporter

I stayed up until 4 am yesterday, because, why not?

It’s quarantine and I have nothing else to do early in the morning, so I finally went to bed after watching three hours of TikToks.

This morning, or should I say afternoon, I woke up and got a bowl of cereal. I went to the basement and watched Netflix like the rest of the world. I am on the last episode of “The Tiger King” and I feel as if I’m even more confused than when I started the season. They do not answer any of the real questions in the documentary, and it made me very upset that nobody went to jail besides Joe.

I then have to get ready for my eight-hour shift and head to work, where I am greeted by a whole bunch of customers who say they care about “being protected,” yet they take their masks off to talk to associates and cough all around the store. The disrespect these people have and the fact that they come in the stores for absolutely nothing essential gets me every time. They demand respect, yet they talk to associates like we are nothing.

My job does its best to try to keep all of our associates safe by giving us gloves and hand sanitizer if we need them, and we only allow 150 people in our store at a time.

Do you know what my plan will be after work?  Returning home and watching TikTok for hours until it all starts over again.
