Boston started off early in the first inning with David Ortiz doubling to right field, helping Dustin Pedroia score the first run of the game. The Cardinals did not start their scoring  until the bottom of the fourth, when Matt Holliday hit a 423 foot home run into center field.

Boston followed up with two more runs in the top of the seventh inning when both Xander Bogaerts and Stephen Drew scored. The game ended 3-1 with Boston taking their third game in the series.

Cardinal Nation became upset as they headed into what could be their last game of the season.
