A New Year to Complain

Expressing my opinion is something at which I am exceptional, so the Pepper Box staff decided that I should have my own column for the paper where I pretty much just complain or talk about whatever I please. Lucky you!

No one likes to start a new year, not even the teachers. Yes people want to see their friends, and some kids want to see some teachers they like, but no one wants to go through all of the rules and the syllabus.

I think that the school should just mail home the syllabi during summer break, because who honestly listens to the teacher read over those? And is it just my parents, but do no other parents actually read them? My parents just look for the line that says “Parent/Guardian signature,” sign it, and then hand it back to me.

I know it is still just the beginning of the school year, but the year will go by faster than the speed of light. Most of us, well pretty much all of us, need to keep thinking about, or even start thinking about what they are going to do after high school.

So for those of you who want to take some life skills lessons from me, here are some tips to get you moving in the right direction.

The new year is a time for people to start over; to get a clean slate. One thing I like about a new school year is that everyone gets a chance to change their procrastination habits. I am not saying that I do not procrastinate, but I know people who wait until the last possible day to do their work. I mean really? What happened to starting over and not procrastinating?

Another problem people need to fix is their walking etiquette. When you are walking in the hall, actually walk! Do not walk down the middle of the hall and just stop right in the way.

People are trying to get to class and do not care what you have to say to whoever. We just want you to get out of the way. If you are standing in the middle of the hall and people are trying to get by you, they most likely are not going to be very friendly; at least I cannot promise to be chipper.

Oh my gosh, you saw your best friend? Nobody cares; talk to them later.

If you want to try to make this school a better place, you can learn to walk in the halls and not procrastinate.

And, not like it is my job to complain, but nobody cares about you complaining over there.
