A few weeks ago, boy’s swim team was at the Blue Pool Conference at University City High School. The team ended up placing first in all the events besides the 200 free and the 500 free.

This is the second conference title the swim team has taken in two years. Swim member Junior Clark Capps described the hard training the swim team for preparing for conference.

“Every weekday we trained our hardest with Coach Wakefield, she had us do butterfly, backstroke, breaststroke, freestyle, skulling, and elementary backstroke.” Capps said.

“Every week we did planks, but the planks grew longer every week by Coach Wakefield adding ten seconds to the time.” Capps said.

With training like that it is hard not to see why the team won most of the conferences events and some extra medals for some of the swimmers. While some teams aim low just hoping to win some events during the conference, this team aimed high to win all of them.

“I knew that we would win some of the events in the conference but I really did not think that we would win mostly all of the events,” Capps said.
