Cardinals World Series game 2 recap

Cardinals win game 2 by a score of 4-2.

A game 2 victory signaled a turnaround for the Cardinals from Thursday night’s game.

The Cardinals scored their first run in the fourth inning leading 1-0. Matt Holliday hit a triple and Carlos Beltran drove him in, getting himself out as he did, making the first productive out of the game.

In the sixth inning David Ortiz smashed the only home run of the entire game with a man on first base to put the Red Sox ahead 2-1. Bases were loaded in the seventh inning when Matt Carpenter lifted a fly ball deep, and Pete Kozma tagged up to score and tie the score at 2-2. Jon Jay tagged to third, which forced a throw from reliever Craig Breslow.  He threw the ball past the third baseman into the stands letting the Cardinals score another run, breaking the tie with a score of 3-2..

Beltran then singled into right field to score Daniel Descalso for the final run of the game.

The 4-2 victory evened up the series at 1-1.
