“Hello it’s Maddie with your morning announcements, today is a C day, meaning your classes will go one, two, three, four, five, SIX SEVEN, eight.”
Senior Madison Miller was elected class president in the school year of 2024-2025 and has done nothing but give her all to the school, even in morning announcements.
“She knows every single kid in the building, her personality puts her in the right space to lead, she does not shy away from challenges,” Crisis Intervention Specialist Keaton Strong said.
Miller says that she does everything for this school because she genuinely cares about making people feel included and is proud to be part of the senior class.
“Being involved gives me a way to bring people together, whether it is through events, spirit weeks, or just making school more fun and meaningful,” Miller said. “I like knowing that what I do can make someone’s day better or give them a memory they will look back on.”
Miller said that she wanted to run for class president because she has always been passionate about leadership and creating change.
“I saw areas where our class could be more connected and represented and I wanted someone who could listen, plan and make things happen. I have been involved in a lot of clubs and activities, so running for class president felt like the next step to use everything I have learned to help others,” Miller said.
Miller’s main goal is to have this senior class be the one that did things first, with one of those being taking prom off campus.
“She came up with a senior movie night which is new for the school and every class now wants one. She has also introduced the ice cream truck with healthy option ice cream and basketball games,” Strong said. “She has a couple of other ideas which is also her big push with outside resources, which is giving us a lot of connections to the school. And she’s an advocate for making sure the seniors have activities; she’s also training the other class presidents.”
Miller makes sure she considers other people’s opinions while coming up with plans, instead of just trying to think of them all by herself.
“I come up with ideas by hearing people talk and understanding what people think is good. I love brainstorming. I try to think of creative ways also fun ideas that fit our classes vibe and balance school spirit with something everyone can enjoy,” Miller said.
Her events have been enjoyed by other seniors. Senior Aiden Strong attended the movie night and had a good time.
“The movie was good, Maddie gave a welcoming vibe and checked in on people to make sure everything was alright,” Aiden Strong said.
Miller is confident that the activities she planned went well and that future ones will go smoothly. She says that she makes plans for activities based on whether they are fun, different, and meaningful.
“The best part is seeing people laugh, and posting and talking about it afterward. That’s how I know I did something right,” Miller said.
